Kefalonia (spelled variously: Kefallonia, Kefallinia, Cephalonia and so on) is the largest of the Greek Ionian islands.
The island has a lot of splendid beaches with good sand. The photo above was shot from a village called Vlachata (or Vlaxata), situated on the southern coast of the island.
The island is well connected with the mainland. Besides it has an airport, there is also a direct bus link between Athens and the island's capital, Argostoli, operated by the Greek national bus company, KTEL. The public transportation inside the island is, however, not convenient, as the buses are not frequent: it is difficult to see around Kefalonia only with the public transportation, if you stay only in one place. This is the port of Killini seen from a ferry heading toward Skala. And below is the port of Skala. The lively town of Skala, with numerous hotels and restaurants, is close, although it is not in this photo.
