About This Site

The main objective of this site, established 1 August 2005, is to introduce the history, monuments, nature, people, and culture of Greece from Antiquity to today.

In future I hope to include information also about Italy, where I had lived for 5 years, and other parts of the Mediterranean.

About the Author

Kayoko Tabata was born in Japan, in 1967. Graduated from Waseda University obtaining the bachelor degree in letters (Western History), and consecutively the master degree in letters (Western History). The doctor degree was conferred from the Republic of Italy having terminated the doctorate in ancient history at Pisa University.
After having taught at University of Saint Paul and at Waseda University (Tokyo) as temporary lecturer, she moved to UK as honorary research fellow at the University of Birmingham.
She lives in Piraeus, Greece since 2009.

Her publications include "I comites Gothorum civitatum nel regno ostrogoto", in Humana Sapit: Scritti in onore di Lellia Cracco Ruggini, Turnhout/ Brepols, 2002, pp. 67-78. She (together with another person) translated into Japanese and published Travel in the Ancient World by Lionel Casson in 1998 Tokyo, and some of the most important articules of Umberto Laffi as Ancient Rome and Italy, Pisa/ L'ETS 2003.
